IOS 45001

Customer focus

ISO has developed a new standard, ISO 45001, Occupational health and safety management systems - Requirements, that will help organizations reduce this burden by providing a framework to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better, safer working conditions, all over the world.

The standard was developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts and follows other generic management system approaches such as ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. It will consider other International Standards in this area such as OHSAS 18001, the International Labour Organization's ILO-OSH Guidelines, various national standards and the ILO's international labour standards and conventions.

OHSAS 18001

OHSAS 18001 is a widely used, and internationally applied, British standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It exists to help all kinds of organisations put in place demonstrably sound occupational health and safety best practices.

OHSAS 18001 requires an organisation to formally document their health and safety policy and keep ongoing records that it continues to adhere to the requirements of the standard.

AS/NZS 4801

AS/NZS 4801

AS/NZS 4801 is similar to OHSAS 18001 in that it is used as a benchmark to assess occupational health & safety management systems for organisations. Although it is an Australian/ New Zealand Standard, it is used widely by organisations around the world to manage workplace health and safety.

The standard is used to enable an organisation to formulate health and safety policies and objectives, whilst considering legislative requirements and information about potential hazards or risks.
